In 1951 Franco Albini designed this timeless rattan ottoman, a piece of furniture that is a truly unique and artistically elegant. The distinguished multi-purpose item is now part of Sika Design's ICONS collection and is more relevant than ever due to the ecological sustainability of the natural material. Rattan is a beautiful material. It's part of the palm family and grows climbing up trees in the rainforest.

              Handcrafted furniture designed by Viggo Boesen (1907-1985) who was a Danish architect that contributed to the Danish design aesthetics in the 1930s. From his workshop, Viggo designed a number of rattan and upholstery furniture, which was constructed according to his philosophy: Furniture should have an organic flow and embrace the body smoothly and tenderly. They should be a delight to the eye, but also be solid and durable.

              This furniture is handcrafted in rattan, which is one of the most sustainable materials available for furniture manufacturing. Rattan is often confused with bamboo, but unlike hollow bamboo, rattan is a solid material. This makes rattan furniture very durable, and able to last for generations.
